go to「去」、「到」某地方
go out外出、離開
to go(食物)外帶
go by順道經過、路過
go with搭配;伴隨、隨同

Go ahead; sit down.
Go ahead and give him the discount.
You go ahead.
You go ahead to the movie, and I'll be there in ten minutes.
This project is going ahead.

go along with陪伴;贊成

I'll go along with you.
My brother asked me to go along with him and his friends to the car race.
They go along with my point of view.
They are happy to go along with my position.

go along、go with 和 go along with 這三個片語雖然類似,但是意思不太相同。 例如,我們可以說:you'll get used to this job as you go along(你繼續做下去就會習慣這個工作的)。

Ally's blond hair goes well with her pink dress(愛麗的金發和她的粉紅色洋裝非常相配),或是 happiness doesn't necessarily go with money(有錢不一定就幸福)。 I'll go with Thai-style chicken chunks with rice。

go along with 和 come along with 的中文意思差不多,但是在細微處略有不同。come along with 和 go along with 都是「跟隨」的意思,但是 come along with 只能用於實質上的「跟隨」,而 go along 除了用於實質上的跟隨,還有抽象的意思,例如前面提到「贊成、支持」的意思。

The milk has gone bad.
The fish has gone bad, so don't eat it.

不過,英文中雖然沒有 go good 這種說法,但是 go well(good 的副詞)卻很常見喔!

如果別人問你 how is it going(最近過的如何),你就可以回答,it's going well(最近過的不賴)。

Ian and Jan went dutch.
Let's go dutch.

go dutch 的意思是「各付各的」,而 pay fifty-fifty 和 split the bill 這兩個片語意思是「平均分攤」。

Mike goes for vegetables.
Wendy really went for Don.
Don went for Mike with a knife.
The superhero went for the villian closest to him to stop him from stealing the money.
This book goes for twenty dollars.
This work of Monet goes for two million dollars.

以上面的例句來說,Mike goes for vegetables 中的 go for 可以用 prefer 替代,表示「較喜愛」的意思。

而在 Wendy really went for Don 中的 go for 意思是 fall for,或 fall in love with,就是「墜入愛河;陷入情網」的意思。

Don went for Mike with a knife,因為有武器(with a knife)跟在後面,所以這句的意思不是「丹很喜歡帶刀的麥克」,而是「丹用刀子攻擊麥克」喔!

Our boss went nuts when he heard the bad news.
The woman went crazy and was put in the hospital.
He went crazy when he saw his girlfriend with another man.
Leo's wife went crazy when she saw how much money he had spent.
Rita went nuts when I told her the good news.
Cindy went nuts when she won the lottery.

The alarm clock didn't go off.
The alarm went off when the thieves entered the bank.
A bomb went off.
He heard the gun go off.
The lights went off.
The air conditioner went off automatically at midnight.

例如「開燈」是 turn on 或是 switch on,「關燈」則是 turn off 或是 switch off。「上車」是 get on,「下車」就是 get off。

The meeting went on all day.
What's going on outside?
There is a fight going on outside.
There's an argument going on.
The lights went on.
Tell them to be quiet. Go on!
Go on; sit down.
Go on; I'm listening.
Jay paused for a sip of tea, and then went on with his story.

go through穿過;找東西

He went through the room.
The train went through the tunnel.
She went through the old books.
I hate it when my mom goes through my things.

go by 和 go through 字面意思都是「經過」的意思。 所以如果我們說:he goes by the park 和 he goes through the park,其實前者是指「從公園旁邊走過」;後者是指「穿越公園」的意思。

例如,don't go by that old map, it might be out of date(別以那張地圖作準,也許已經過時了)going by her clothes, she must be very poor(從她的衣著來判斷,她一定很窮)。

go together (with)陪伴;放在一起

Mike went together with his students.
Hey, we're both going to the party, so let's go together.
These two socks go together.

例如,「這個包包很配這套衣服」英文就是 this bag goes with this suit,而不是 this bag goes together with this suit.
